2013 New York City

A note on my travelogues

When Michael and I travel overseas, I have been in the habit of writing emails to our friends. These seem to have taken on a life of their own as ‘friends of friends’ ask to be added to the mailing list. I then get emails from people who I have never met wanting to ‘go on the list’. The emails are stories of our travels, usually irreverent; potted histories of places we have seen, (not always totally accurate. Who did say, ‘don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story’?) There is always a fairly big component consisting of what we have eaten. They are written in my own ‘style’ usually full of spelling & grammatical errors, use your ‘red pens’ to correct them if you must! Michael is the long-suffering butt of most of many of my stories. ‘Himself’ is quite happy with that role!

A note on the 2013 trip to New York City

2013 was a year of ‘on again /off again’ holiday plans. We made and canceled several trips and had expected to spend all year ‘home’. Qantas advertised a sale on airfares in late August; I looked in the diary and saw a window of five weeks and three days. I then told Michael we have five weeks and three days free, where do you want to go? New York was the answer. We had been talking about a trip there for some time, so six weeks latter we were on our way! This was the first time ever we were doing a single destination international trip and it was wonderful!
